Forest Holidays Keldy Review
Cosy cabins, many with hot tubs and log burners, nestling in dense forest.
A bolt hole from the madding crowd where mobile signals can't cover. A haven where birds sing, deer leap, trees rustle and rivers babble.
If your idea of heaven is the same as ours, may I recommend Forest Holidays In March we headed north to their Strathyre location, in October we made our way to Keldy and it's Keldy where I base my review.
Location
Keldy Cabins are a 20 minute drive along winding forest lanes from Pickering, an hour from Whitby and York. The cabins are well spaced out among clearings in the trees. Peace, quiet and away from highways and phone signals.
Score: 9/10
Fair to good standard. A dirty baking tray in the oven, a used shampoo sachet in the shower, a few cob webs, some dirty cups. Minor quibbles, all to be expected with self catering.
Score: 8/10
Comfort
Well equipped modern kitchen, large dining table, floor to ceiling windows with sliding doors leading on to decking area. En suite bedroom on mezzanine level, with a second twin room, shower room and toilet below. Bed linen provided but not towels and hairdryer. The metal roof can mean sleepless nights during rain.
Score: 8/10
Staff
Check-in was friendly, I was happy they didn't try too hard to up sell activities. We needed a high chair which was bought up by golf buggy, and they look-in on every guest soon after arrival.
Score: 10/10
Overall
Very comfortable, great location, efficient staff, a few cleanliness issues. No phone signal, £40 surcharge for an entertainment package including wifi for a 4-night stay is a bit steep.
Score: 9/10
That's two Forest Holiday locations ticked off, we stayed at Strathyre in March and we will definitely stay at other locations in the future. Have you stayed at a Forest Holiday location? Or similar? Or do you have another family holiday you can recommend? Do let us know.
