How To Remove Old Pages From Google Index
We've all done it. You publish a blog post, but later you need to remove it for reasons of your own.
Trouble is, the URL link can still be found on Google if a potential visitor were to search for your blog.
Google will remove it eventually, the next time they crawl your site, but in the mean time it's messy and could put off your new visitor from returning.
Fortunately there are a few simple steps you can take to remove these old pages from Google index.
1. Find The Correct URL. Go to search results and hover over the blue text, click the right button and select Copy link address. So the URL I needed to remove was https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd= etc etc etc (long!) and not the URL of the blog page.
2. Next we need to Remove outdated content, so visit here and paste the URL that you've just copied.
Click REQUEST REMOVAL.
There you go, it really couldn't be simpler to remove old pages from Google index.
